A SCIENCE ESCAPADE!

NURTURING INQUISITIVE MINDS

Hands-On Science Holiday Programme in Singapore | A Science Escapade! by Cognitive Whizz

Looking for one of Singapore’s most engaging hands-on Science holiday programmes this year-end? Cognitive Whizz celebrates the 10th anniversary of A Science Escapade!, its signature Science holiday programme that brings concepts to life through hands-on experiments, creative inventions and immersive real-world experiences.

Designed for children aged 4 to 16, the programmes span Primary to Secondary Science and combine MOE-aligned concepts with inquiry-based, experiential learning. With a small teacher-to-student ratio of approximately 1:5, children receive personalised attention while being encouraged to experiment, investigate, ask questions and discover for themselves!

There are four age-specific programmes to choose from. Children aged 4–7 enter the Fantasy Land of Imagination, exploring Science through playful challenges such as building submarines, creating colourful density towers, growing crystals and more! Those aged 7–12 embark on the Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator Science Quest, where they experiment with renewable energy sources and build scooting robots, flying discs, traffic lights, buzzers and more!

Older children can explore Biology, Chemistry and Physics through the Lower Secondary Science Headstart (ages 10–13) and Upper Secondary Science Headstart (ages 13–16) programmes. Lower Secondary participants get hands-on with elements, compounds and mixtures, separation techniques, cells, electricity and more, while Upper Secondary students delve deeper into microscopy, enzyme investigations, acids, bases and salts, qualitative analysis, redox reactions and more!

The four-day adventure also extends beyond the classroom. Children get up close with bees, ants and earthworms on The Sundowner’s Nature Quest, where they can don a bee suit to feed honeybees, observe fascinating ant behaviour, hunt for earthworms and create a take-home habitat. They will also head to SuperPark Singapore, where Science comes alive as they experience forces and energy through exciting, action-packed challenges.

Children also bring home a treasure trove of experiments and creative gadgets, allowing the exploration to continue even after camp. Participants receive a comprehensive, colourful Science workbook to reinforce key concepts, while parents will receive photos and videos of their child’s learning journey throughout the programme.

Prepare and examine cell specimens under a microscope, perform food tests, investigate enzymes and digestive system, and explore the anatomy of a pig’s stomach!

Pig’s stomach exploration is optional. There is an alternative activity available.

Afternoon: Unlock the Chemistry of Acids, Bases & Salts

Perform colourful indicator titrations, investigate acid-base reactions and pH, while preparing salt crystals through neutralisation and crystallisation!

Day 2

Morning: Decode the Secrets of Qualitative Analysis

Perform cation and anion tests, analyse colour changes, precipitates and gases to identify unknown substances and sharpen your practical chemistry skills!

Afternoon: Master the Physics of Balance & Turning Effects

Uncover the physics behind acrobatic balancing feats, explore moments, centre of gravity and stability, and discover how force and distance affect turning equilibrium!

Day 3

Morning: Unravel the Power of Redox

Perform colourful redox titrations, explore oxidising and reducing agents, and build your own fruit battery to bring redox to life!

Afternoon: Discover the Secret World of Bees, Ants & Worms

Don a bee suit to feed honeybees, observe fascinating ant behaviour, and hunt for earthworms to create a take-home habitat, while discovering their vital roles in our ecosystem!
