Asia Young Scientist Badge (AYSB) Competition 2026

Bringing together students from across Asia-Pacific, the AYSB competition organised by Singapore Science Centre Global encourages curiosity, scientific inquiry and problem-solving through engaging learning pathways and assessments. Participants will embark on a exciting learning journey covering insects, plants and food science while competing for awards and international recognition.

Competition Details

Singapore Round

Date: 15 August 2026 (Saturday)
Format: Online Competition
Competition Window: Participants may complete the 1-hour competition anytime between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM (SGT) on the competition day.
Eligibility: Primary 1 to Primary 6 students

Regional Finals

Date: October 2026
Venue: Science Centre Singapore

Top-performing participants from participating countries will be invited to advance to the Regional Finals and compete for regional honours.

Topics Covered

Participants will be assessed across three Young Scientist Badge domains:

Young Entomologist

Explore the fascinating world of insects, their life cycles and their importance in our ecosystem.

Young Botanist

Discover plants, biodiversity and the science behind the natural environment.

Young Food Scientist

Learn about nutrition, food production, sustainability and the science of food.

Competition Format

20% Pre-Assessment

Participants are required to complete 15 Stars within the assigned Young Scientist Badge learning pathway prior to the competition.

80% Online Competition

20 Multiple Choice Questions
Duration: 1 Hour
Questions will cover the badge domains assigned to the participant's category.

Champion Awards

Champion (Ultimate Winner)
1st Runner-Up
2nd Runner-Up

Achievement Awards

Gold Award – 75% and above
Silver Award – 65% and above
Bronze Award – 50% and above
Merit Award – 40% and above

All participants will receive an official Competition E-Certificate.
